A few examples of reports of the 1914 unofficial Christmas
truce that happened spontaneously along the front line between British and
German troops during World War I. It was frowned upon by the military hierarchy on both sides, but
happened again, but to a lesser degree, in 1915. By 1916, though, there had
been too much bloodshed for any coming together of the opposing sides.
